Unsatisfied with a recent tour of Israel and Jordan

Israel tour small group included 28 people instead of less than 24 as advertised.

incompetent, rude tour director, Tomer Mazya.

1. FREQUENT USE OF GERMAN LANGUAGE AND REFERENCES TO GERMAN TOURS, PEOPLE

1.1 He frequently substituted German for English.

His explanation was that his mother was German, and he usually had German tours. He was told by a guest to stop substituting German words for English because no one understood him. He continued to refer to his German tours.

1.2 At the Holocaust Museum, I asked him to please use his Whisper and he brashly asked me what I had missed. I moved in closer to hear him and was appalled and disturbed, as were others, when he ended with the statement that the Germans also suffered.

This antisemitic remark has no place in this world, especially when visiting the Holocaust Museum. Apparently, he has never visited the Holocaust Museum or the Childrens Museum. How thoroughly does Globus check the Tour Directors background. Tomer Mazyas actions during the tour would indicate he has a German preference.

2.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

2.1 Tomer was not articulate. It was very hard to follow his explanations, the few he did provide. He has a strong accent and difficulty fluently speaking the English language.

2.2 Tomer would get on the bus in the morning, say a few words for a minute and then talk to the bus driver for an hour or more without any explanation about the names of the towns, industry, people, economy, etc. A few examples: May 12th we boarded the bus at 7:45AM.

Tomer did his count a few times and then started a conversion with the bus driver until 8:35 when he told us we would be getting off in 5 minutes. No communication for almost an hour. Another time traveled from 1:53PM to 3PM. Tomers only communication was with the bus driver.

These are only a few examples that I timed because it happened so often.

2.3 If someone asked him a question, he would say he would talk about it later. Later happened very infrequently and it became a frustration with people on the bus.

2.4 He would refer to the group as Hey Guys. At one point I said Ladies and Gentlemen. He then started referring to Ladies and all others as well as Hey Guys.

Is this how Globus trains the Tour Directors to address their customers?

2.5 Tomer was continually rushing forward, leaving the group behind confused by his short, inaudible directions. On several occasions, he lost people because his directions were unclear.

3. ARROGANCE, LACK OF SOCIAL SKILLS and INEXPERIENCE

3.1 Five people from another Globus group joined our group for the King David Sound & Light Show. Their tour director was Yaron.

When we arrived at their hotel Tomer did not get off the bus to welcome Yaron. It became obvious within a few seconds that Yaron was engaged with his group. Yaron quickly included the rest of us while Tomer sat, as usual, disengaged. Yaron treated everyone with respect, looked after everyone from both groups and answered questions.

Once the show was over and Yarons group disembarked at their hotel, Tomer snickered and said, what do you think of that group? Tomer did not appear to understand that Yarons engagement with the groups were the qualities of a good tour director.

3.2 Tomer did not leave the Whisper for the tour guide in Bethlehem to use. Regardless the Bethlehem tour guide, Isa, made do without the Whisper and gave a good tour.

3.3 At the Farewell dinner, Tomer ate fast and left. The people at his table asked for a picture.

After the picture he left. I was at another table of 6 people, and he did not come over to make any farewell comments, or goodbye. He just left.

4. KNOWLEDGE

4.1.

On May 8th, at the Welcome meeting, I asked Tomer about the Jordan visa. His curt response was that he knew nothing about the Jordan visas. I contacted my travel agent, Joy Popdynec, because she had confirmed with Globus prior to the trip that Globus would provide the Jordan visa. A day or so later I had still not heard anything from Tomer.

Only when asked did he say that Globus would provide the Jordan visa. He said he had never been told.

4.2 As mentioned previously, daily someone would ask Tomer a question and he would tell the person that he will talk about it later. Later usually never happened.

4.3. His explanation at various sites was to read a verse from the Bible.

4.4 On more than one occasion some of the group would listen to another tour guide (not Globus) to get a more coherent explanation of the site.

4.4 He asked another guest Brian Nguyen, to videotape him giving an explanation.

I believe this may have been after my complaints to Globus and their communication to him about my complaints.

4.5 Towards the end of the tour, Tomer told the group not to ask questions about what he had already discussed. He frequently referred to what he had already discussed?? Apparently, he was confused or perhaps he gave an incoherent explanation using a mixture of German and English or perhaps he had discussed with the bus driver on the long bus rides where he never communicated with the group.

4.6 People took pictures of the explanation panels at the sites because it was hard to understand Tomer. He started to stand in front of them.

He was asked to move but refused!

4. SAFETY

4.1 Neither the bus driver nor Tomer would help people off the bus. Frequently the last step to the sidewalk or road was sizable. People on the bus helped one another.

4.2 Tomer would not provide explanations of a site on the bus.

At the Kibbutz and elsewhere people stood out in the sun.

5. MISCELLANEOUS

5.1 On the way to the Jordan border Tomer asked if anyone wanted to give some money for the porters. It was my understanding that this was already covered by Globus. In any event, I had some change, so I gave that to him, as did others.

He gave Brian Nguyen, from the tour group, a plastic bag with some money and told him to ensure everyones luggage got off the bus while he went inside. Brian gave the money to the porter.

Once in Jordan, the porters also wanted to be paid and Brian had to pay from his own funds.

5.2 I reached out to Globus on a number of occasions and asked that Tomer be replaced and that if he were going to be the tour director for Jordan, I would be returning home and not continue on to Jordan. Fortunately, he was not the tour director for Jordan.

Contacted Globus several times and receive absolute no response like it never happened before.

Original review Nov 22, 2019
Went on Globus "escape to Greece" tour on 11/9/2019 with my wife. The tour went satisfactory. But during the trip, we found Globus agents deceived and profiling their customers for optional gratuity charge. We found we have been charged twice amount of gratuity recommended in their travel document. Additionally no one in my traveling group got pre-charged for optional gratuity. It appears Globus agency profiling their customer for optional expense as mandatory charge. To be fair and square, tour was satisfactory but Globus charging practice is very distasteful and deceiving.

Expect no help, ignored, no resolution if issue on tour occurs Rate 0

Rate 0, would never touch Globus or Cosmo tour again. Be warned if there is an issue with your tour - Don't expect Globus to help you or provide a resolution – care factor is nil.

Don't risk it - don't buy Globus or Cosmo. Globus and CEO of Globus accepts and approves employee bad behaviour - including lying, disrespect and mock client in front of them and putting the client health and safety at risk - I have proof in emails that support this. Had major trouble on a comos 15 night trip in silicy - 10 nights of 15 nights trip went through extreme stress and no resolution (not during the trip or after rectification). The tour guide was extremely unprofessional in behaviour - lying to clients repeating, tour guide was disrespectful, mock, belittle, laugh about and downgrade clients in front of them in Italian thinking they don't understand what you are saying (clients understood what was said and extremely upset), the tour guide and company ignore risks and forced two of the shared clients to share with another that was an issue (that person should not been allowed to purchase a twin share or should of been told to get own room on tour - sharing with this person posed WHS hazards with power cords hanging mid high across room for their medical equipment (trip hazard) and breach of privacy and access to basic amenities (sharing with a stranger twin share - where can't shut bathroom door to go to toilet or shower - as the only power point is in bathroom and her equipment had to be plugged in for life support).

Multiple clients on tour complained to tour guide for 10 days and demanded another room, the tour guide did not deal with it and lied, also mocked and disrespected clients in front of them. While on tour multiple complaints emailed direct to Globus as governing body did nothing and swept it under the table and ignored it. Multiple complaints was lodge after trip as well - still no action or resolution, Multiple complaints alerting CEO of Globus (12 pages letter full examples, photos and correspondence - still no action and I specifically ask CEO questions Does the CEO accept staff bad behaviour and breach of code of conduct - approving Globus staff lying, disrespectful, mocking clients and in Italian too and a whole heap more - I received a call today and YES the CEO of Globus approves the bad behaviour of staff and clients being disrespecting, mocking, lying and more. I travel extensively all over the world for 28 years, no other Tour company does this - all other companies will resolve it.

Don't risk it - don't use Globus or Comos. Use another tour company - there are plenty of good ones out there.

Sir or Madam: My husband and I traveled Italy's Best. Our tour guide was Claudio Apreda. I want to say "this is not a complaint letter." We want to commend Cosmos on hiring such a wonderful Guide. I would also like to say, I have been given links three times and none of them linked properly. I was given this email travelservices@***.com. Each time I tried, it failed to connect. If you want feedback, I suggest you fix this link. This was our 2nd Cosmos trip. Our first was two years ago, touring Scandinavia. Which was wonderful. Let me begin by saying both my husband and I retired as Ex. Directors of two different agencies. We recognize a well rounded, very responsible individual when we see one. Claudio is to be commended. He had a smile on his face, always was waiting for us at the time of meeting, and answered individual questions with with great pride of his county and with kindness. We never say him once lose his "cool" or become irritated. Everything was on time, and he made it very clear on the first day, how and why we needed to be on time. His organizational skills were amazing! He never lost a beat when trying to gather us to enter museums, churches, or small town tours. Nor did I see any impartiality towards any of our group. Good hearted and helpful always. He deserves to be noticed by management and given a raise or bonus. He is priceless. Thank you so very much. My driver

I just came off a tour with Globus and the driver was one of the best I have ridden with on tours. He made sure we were all on and even held an umbrella for us in the rain who need help. He even made sure the lady with the walker had it on and off.

Tour director is very knowledgeable but.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The tour guide is very knowledgeable. She could have given us a phone number to call her if we had a problem and couldn’t meet the rest of group. We were just on a tour of Venice. She left four people behind. Leaving them to find their own way back to the hotel. Which is miles away from from the location in Venice. She is not understanding. It seems to be her way or the highway. I almost got left behind. She met me when my wife and I were on the way to the boat. I was seven minutes late. She said to me do you know what time it is. In a very sarcastic tone. I really think that this might be the last globes vacation I’m taken. I was just on a vacation to Hawaii This year with a different company. The tour guide couldn’t have been nicer. My wife and I are on the tail end of a two-week trip with another seven days left. And believe it or not I’m not real excited to face this woman every day. If we’re on a tour. The guide does not allow any type of a rest. Or bathroom breaks. Majority of the people on this trip I retired. That makes a difference. Going back to the four people that she left behind. We left the location 10 minutes later than we should have. To go no place but the hotel. Our dinner reservations are two hours later with nothing in between.

Globus “La France” Tour Guide

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My husband and I cut our two week Globus “La France” trip short by three days because our tour guide, Marie Claire, was extremely flirtatious with, and around, my husband. It started out very subtlely, then as time wore on, it became more brazen. At one point while we were seated in the front row of the bus, she went down the aisle sideways pushing her chest forward against my husband’s shoulder as she went by. There were many other instances throughout the trip, although not quite as brazen. Her behavior was highly inappropriate and ruined what should have been a very special trip.

Corporate Globus

I am a motor coach operator who transports guests on different tours for globus. The expectations of a globus driver are very high, to bad there is no recipication. This comment has no reflection on the tour directors, they have been great to work with. As for the corporate office, they could care less about the driver. I had considered looking into a tour through them but have since changed my mind and will use Gate 1. A company who treats people in this manner is not a company I want to give my money to.
